This product is advertised as a splitter (taking one input and splitting into 2 outputs).
Most people have found that it does not work in this mode (cuts the signal strength in half).
As a combiner (two inputs going to one output) it seems to work in many cases as long as the
inputs really do turn off when the equipment is not used. Check your optical cables for light
prior to purchasing this device. If you cannot see light at the end of the cable when the units
are not being used you will probably be sucessful. The light must turn off on both units!
