Order Tascam DR07 Portable Digital Recorder

Unit died a couple months after buying [wouldn't even boot up, but had error code]. It was taken to the local warranty service station listed as providing Tascam service, but they said that could not take care of it, and it would have to be sent in the national service station. By the time they got it, it was a few days out of the only 90-day labor warranty. I received two notices that they would not even look at it until you agreed to pay a $40 inspection fee if I didn't have it fixed. A phone call regarding that resulted in them saying that they now send that notice out to everyone, but since this is a small unit, it would most likely just be replaced. No such luck. After waiting a few weeks, I finally got an estimate for $50 labor to repair a unit which still had the parts covered. This is the slowest and worst customer service that I've seen in years. TEAC is not like it used to be, when they took pride in their products.

FOLLOWUP: After a number of weeks and many phone calls and emails, they finally waived the $50 and sent a new unit. They finally did the right thing, but only after a VERY long delay and a lot of pushing. If you have a problem, expect to pay and/or spend a lot of time and frustration getting it resolved. Hopefully the new unit will last longer than the first one.Get more detail about Tascam DR07 Portable Digital Recorder.
