Sadly, this mic arrived dead upon arrival, as did a Behringer FBQ2496 Feedback Suppressor/Parametric Equalizer.

The red light on my mic lit up so dimly, that I wasn't even sure it was lit or not. I literally had to scream into the mic to get anything out of it. Yes, I had Phantom power enabled, thank you for thinking I'm an idiot. :) Yeeesssss, I'm sure the Phantom Power was working, as my other four condenser mics were happy.

It felt very solid, well built, but unfortunately didn't work. If you get one that works, it seems to be a great value.

I am adding to the folks commenting on the HUM generated by this unit. Having many turntables since the 70's and not doing DJ gigs anymore I sold my 1200s a while back and decided to take advantage of the new units with phono preamps and USB outs - exciting....not so fast. Decided on this unit as it had pitch controll and was mid $ range, so picked this unit up last December when it was reduced to 150 bucks along with an excellent Grado labs DJ series cartridge and stylus, set the system up correctly and was immediately shocked at extreme buzz and hum. Tried tons of fixes in the last months, electicians to check my electical, adding an expensive power supply conditioner and every permutation of hookup of the unit but was still unlistenable. I was concerned the day I set it up that there was no grounding wire, which is universal for turntables, the plug had no grounding post - only polarized, which is NOT a substitute for an earth ground. Assumed that tech had come up with some way to ground out the unit in the preamp phase...sadly no.

So back to more trick-fixes, and did find something that calmed the buzz and some of the hum...turning every electrical thing off in the room. The television was the worst, even though on a seperate circuit AND located almost 10 feet from the turntable! BUT even with everything off there is still the hum, WHICH gets incrementally louder as the tonearm tracks closer to the center of the platter! This is all so strange to me and irritating, so the unit is playable only over speakers - if you have headphones on it sounds horrible. And to record such awful quality to digital format...forget it.

Actually got this unit from a dealer (turntable lab), and 3 times going to different staff there each person immediately told me that the problem is the ground. When I told them the unit has no ground they all looked confused and told me to contact Numark, 3 emails to their support have all gone ignored. Ready to take a hammer to this thing. So if you are looking to burn your vinyl to an ipod that will play on headphones - beware - nails on chalkboard. Well, I purchased this unit about a year ago after seeing a demo on You Tube and I fell in love with the mixer. I used to mix with Vinyl records back in the 80's. I missed mixing my own music but didn't want to keep dragging out the (vinyl records, turntables and mixer) and so on do to limited space on my desk, so I purchased the Hercules DJ Console RMX. The RMX Console has its own internal sound card. So you have to either plug speakers directly into the RMX Console or to an amplifier because the unit disables your primary sound card on your computer and your RMX becomes the primary sound source. If you don't plug separate speakers into the RMX you might get a delay in sound through your headphones. I don't know if this happens with all sounds cards but I definitely experience this with my Creative labs X-Fi Elite Pro sound card. I purchased a second set of speakers Creative Inspire T10 and these speakers sound good. Once I hooked up the speakers I was on my way creating my own mixes. The RMX Console handles mixing MP3 very well. I made about 10 mixed MP3's that are about 180mins long. I played my mixes and people actually thought it was a professional DJ from the radio. But when I told them I actually made the mixes they couldn't believe it. Actually I used to mix back in the 80's so I still have the skill!
Now if you like to scratch records I wouldn't use this unit for that. I think the unit is great for straight music mixing, looping beats and sound effects. Oh yeah. I forgot to mention that when you upgrade the Virtual DJ software that comes with the RMX Console to Virtual DJ Pro you can mix music videos as well.
