M-Audio Studiophile AV 40 Powered Speakers

I bought these at Fry's for about the same price offered here. I have had these for about a month now and believe I've fully broken these in, they sound phenomenal! When you first plug these in you will notice the sound isn't right... but I knew after a few hours of sound running thru them they would "break-in" nicely. After a week of being on they surely livened up and wow, they sound great. I listen to anything from jazz, sould to hip-hop and techno and I can say they sound perfect for all types of music. However they sound best with high bitrate music, jazz vocal type stuff. If you are looking for a "thumpy" bass these might not be for you. I do listen to hip hop and get enough bass for me but these are not for shaking the walls with the thud that comes from a big subwoofer. Don't get me wrong you can hear and feel it just not so much as other units.

Where these speakers shine is in crisp, clear vocals, no distortion even at high volumes and I mean high volumes. I cranked these up as much as I could take and louder than I would be called "neighbor-safe" and whoa they sound perfect, no cracking or muddy sounds. You will notice the lower bit-rate music in your collection will sound sub-par compared to your higher end music files however. After about a month of listening I think the bass seems more pronounced, this may be my ears but I am completely happy with the amount of bass I get. The accuracy of the music is however the the M-Audios true strength.

I make few purchases, but after all of the glowing reviews I had to check these out and I am very very pleased with the sound. Absolutely stunning sound. No regrets! Cheers!

*FYI, I am using them off a macbook pro, with a standard 1/8 speaker cable hooked directly from the speakers, I know this may be basic knowledge but I couldn't figure this out when I was buying these ... :-)Get more detail about M-Audio Studiophile AV 40 Powered Speakers.
